Teufel Hunden German nickname for the U.S. Marines. Devil dog recruiting station. A recreation directly mastered from an original Teufel Hunden lithograph.
"Teufel Hunden, German Nickname for U.S. Marines - Devil Dog Recruiting Station," the poster is one of the earliest known references to the legend, said to have come about as the result of fierce fighting in 1918 by the Marines in France's Belleau Wood (Bois Belleau in French, "woods of beautful water"). But the poster commits the same error that almost all versions of the legend do: it gets the German wrong.
Mastered directly from a 1 to 1 file of an original stone lithograph this recreation provides you with all the fine details that you will see in the antique original. Printed on acid free 230-250 gm paper with 100+ year archival ink. Optional additional sizes available as well as print on fine American art canvas. The watermark does not appear on your print.
